But linemen are trading, but hey CB are worthy of a trade. We have some good CBs that will be cut.

If you really like one of out CB backups you can sway who we cut vs keep etc with an offer. Also if you really think someone can help your team in a major way you don't want to cross your fingers and hope if he gets cut he falls to you. A trade ensures you get the rights to the player you want. A 7th is worth that, a conditional pick even better.
