This is not OL 6 through 9 but how I think the Rams will enter week one as the OL backup(s) for each position:
LT- Noteboom
LG- Edwards
C- Blythe
RG- Edwards
RT- Edwards
Hence why Edwards is getting a ton of work at multiple spots. I think he's the 6th man. He's also the one that will get starters' reps once a week when Whitworth sits out (Noteboom to LT, Edwards LG).
Demby can play LG and RG and that's it.
With Neary down I think their best pure backup center is Vitas H. I would give him 40 snaps at center Thursday night.
i looked at 3 scenarios - whit, note, allen, blythe and hav are the starters. edwards and evans are locks to make the final 53. demby, brewer and vitas are the next 3 up and on the bubble.
1st assumption up for debate: they keep only 8 o linemen {i think keeping 9 does makes a difference}
2nd assumption up for debate: they are solving for being 3 deep, using just the 8 guys, at all 5 positions.
3rd assumption up for debate: edwards is the 1st backup behind both whit and hav at tackle, note is the 3rd lt and evans is the 3rd rt. i'm striving for continuity and minimizing shifting of the starting 5 here.
4th assumption up for debate: blythe is the 2nd or 3rd center of choice
5th assumption up for debate: demby and brewer are not viable backups at center, but vitas is.
conclusion: if demby or brewer sticks, they do not have a 3rd center. so they fail on the 2nd assumption.
the question: if vitas sticks, is he serviceable enough at left and right guard to be the 3rd guy up vs brewer and demby? because he would have to be 3rd at both.
considerations: demby has already been taken from the rams last year and they had to go back and get him. brewer has a serious medical issue. i pray for him. who is the most likely to slip through to the practice squad?
