Take comfort in it? I use arguments like this every other day to debate sports fans, most of whom, are so bad at looking at things critically.
Usually I just get blank stares, sometimes I get acknowledgement: "I guess I never thought about it that way" or "You have a point there."
This writer is forward thinking and far ahead of the pack IMO.
