Around the late 1920s, he and his best friend decided they were gonna see the Pacific. SOOO, they took off in a old Ford and spent close to 3 months getting there from Jacksonville, Florida. They would stop along the way to work for money.....or vehicle repairs. They finally made it. When they did, they both walked into the water, stood on the beach for a few minutes and then turned around for home. My Grandfather and his bud had been friends since they were both 6-7 years old (Around 1915) His friend , Joe Harvey, passed away in June 1978. I know my Grandfather took it hard.
