I'm biased having lived in the South Bay area for ~10 years but I would stay out near the beach somewhere. Less convenient to the game but more convenient to/from LAX and if you're in L.A. for the first time see the coastline vs. some hotel near the Coliseum. Stay near LAX in El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach. Or north of LAX in Santa Monica area.
