I would love to see him back and 100% in week 1. But it just seems really unrealistic and doubtful. He will be a little less than 10 months removed from surgery when they are at Carolina 9/8. I doubt he is 100% until after their bye week (mid-November).
In both the team's and the player's longer term interests sitting him for 2 or maybe 4 games is probably a smart approach. Maybe he comes back something like week 4 vs. Tampa and gets 20 snaps, 20 for the Thursday Night game 4 days later, 30 each the next three games before their Bye, etc. With Reynolds, Everett, the addition of Henderson, etc. I see zero need to try and rush the kid back in September.
