When Malcolm Brown was healthy last year Gurley got 91% of the snaps at RB and Brown 9%. Those days are done. As they should be. He has averaged 22 touches per game since his 1st NFL, week 4 2015, start.
They retained Brown to have a role. They drafted Henderson to have a role. The extent of those roles is TBD but maybe Gurley is going to be more of a 17-18 touch/game guy now. And maybe that's over 14 games per season vs 16 going forward.
I don't think he's done by any means. Whatever training, treatment, strategy and management approaches they are taking will help him. It's just that he is not going to carry the load by himself in the backfield any longer.
