...for when Blythe wants a new HUGE contract in a year and we have to let him walk and get the comp pick.
Blythe is a guy that - tho graded out abv avg by PFF - a talent I would NOT re-sign to big money...
we can fill his spot with our 6th & 7th OL depth. imo
We will start to pinch money in the next year or so gearing up for Goff's salary and preparing for those 8-10 players who get 50% of the cap.
This is gonna be where all this mid-level drafting is going to be key for us. Also, I don't see us trading picks for players - unless midlevel picks - as we have a solid vet base and now need cheap labor going forward. I understand why they did it in the past and have only really missed on Watkins as a rental.
We made the play-offs & SB...so we made our LA splash and now, must move into sustain the roster mode without having that rookie QB contract.
The great thing is we're in a great position to do so.....cuz of McVay & Snead doing very good personnel work the last 3yrs.
