Certainly something he has to learn. I just think they'll scheme around that while he learns. And it's also partly why Malcolm Brown is there too. They won't put Henderson on an island to pick up inside blitzes or edge rushers. He's going to run the ball or run patterns.
As for carries splits, pure speculation but maybe something like this?
Gurley- 250
Henderson- 90
Brown- 60
It doesn't seem like it is something most RB's just learn all of a sudden. It will probably take some time no matter how much they work with him on it. Most likely, as you say, McVay will scheme it so it's not an issue. Also, I doubt he will be the only RB on the field for most of his snaps. If TG can't go then it's Brown. Then it's probably Kelly or a FA before Henderson see's the field as the starting workhorse back. Of course, if DH is hitting 8 yards a carry then perhaps they figure out how to make him the feature back, lol...
I'm most interested in his ability to break a tackle. Put him in Tavon's role and see if he can get by the first guy.
For the record, I think DH is big enough, strong enough and fast enough to be a workhorse back.... but there will probably be "relevant" growing pains if he is put in that role this season...
