I don't know if it's his physical style of play, or if he's just one those guys who falls into the mysterious "injury prone" category.
But no matter how good a player is, if he can't stay on the field.... especially for the important games such as the Playoffs.... then his value greatly diminishes.
It is just a fact of life in the NFL that QBs that run a lot, scramble a lot, take big hits in the pocket, and run rather physically, get hurt a lot. Yes, there are some notable exceptions such as Russell Wilson but one of those only comes along about once a generation.
To this point it is no contest: the Rams made the better choice in Goff over Wentz. The future? Impossible to know. But Goff is much more than a system QB or a middle of the pack guy, for sure. And, he stays healthy because he knows his value is throwing the ball...... not running it, and not playing tough so that he takes on 300 lb. monsters in the pocket.
Russell Wilson is an exception because he runs out of trouble not into it.
