Rams sign AAF QB John Wolford

The Los Angeles Rams signed Blake Bortles to be Jared Goff’s backup, but they’re adding another quarterback to the mix. They announced on Wednesday that they’ve signed free agent John Wolford.
Wolford played in the AAF for the Arizona Hotshots this past season after going undrafted in 2018. He signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent but was cut a week before the regular season started.
In the preseason with New York, he played one game, completing just 8 of 20 passes for 89 yards with an interception. He earned a look from the AAF and was the Hotshots’ second-round pick, shining as the starter.
He completed 63.4 percent of his passes for 1,616 yards in eight games, throwing 14 touchdown passes and seven interceptions. He also showed off his mobility, rushing for 160 yards and touchdown on 36 carries.
With Bortles backing up Goff, Wolford will compete with Brandon Allen to be the No. 3 quarterback on the roster, assuming the Rams keep three. At the very least, he can be a camp arm throughout the spring and summer.[
