In Idaho, a burglary is the entering of a structure with the intent to commit any felony or theft (grand or petit). Value of the property is not relevant as to whether it is a felony charge. Many surrounding states have similar laws. It used to be more serious (more potential time in prison) if it occured at night, but no more. California law is substantially the same regarding burglary, Claiming it was a prank would be a novel defense!
