If Gurley is a big concern for the Rams they will use a pick in the first 3 rounds on a running back. If they use the 31st pick or trade down into round 2 and use that pick on a RB that will be the sound of the alarm bell going off.
We will now soon based on what they do in the draft.
We already know they are committed to watching Gurley's touches and rotating Brown in more. In terms of whatever is going on with him, they never once said it was temporary and is over. They also would not answer direct questions about an arthritic condition. So it looks like they're committed to managing him and that Brown is part of that.
If they do or don't draft a back, IMO either way it will tell us what they think of Kelly.
I agree that an early RB pick will definitely tell us what they think of Kelly and too a lessor extent Brown.
However, I believe it would say something about their level of concern with Gurley too. I think a premium draft pick - one in the first three rounds - would say they have a pretty high level of concern about Gurley.
The way I see it. NOT taking a back high and early will NOT mean they have absolutely no concerns (that was a triple negative). We already know they have concerns, and how they will address them.
On the other hand, if they actually DO take a back early and high, it would look like their concerns are stronger than we thought.
