Re: agree, however

what do they really think about their RB room
losing Brown, affording Anderson, and what of the newbies in Kelly, and Davis?
that said this isn't at the top of the draft board.

and as pointed out by others the 2020 contracts on the tight end could demand a move now
Both of the Iowa TEs look studly.

........yeah.....smoke screen. McVay smoke

and yet........history tells me plenty

The Martz Mistake
Trung Canidate
Robert Thomas

I was a fan of Trung, and thought it was fun pick. Wrong. He had moments, and might still have resurrected had he scored in Washington late in a game during the Brenda Warner finger issue era. Harped on this single play forever, but Warner throws a pick to Arrington on the subsequent play.

Robert Thomas was a disaster. Another PAC-12 flunk.

Doomed by inability to select premium, elite talent with those first picks.

The point between them is that Martz was misled by his own assessments. He knew he needed some help in these spots, but the OL diminishing play would eventually undo so much. And the only reason I pointed to Martz is, of course, the leaning to the offense.
He does need to be celebrated for selecting Steven Jackson. But the offensive line continued to decline.

But, for me, the damage had been done. None of the offensive linemen drafted (minus Incognito) ascended to dominance.

BTW, if I thought Martz was to blame, I've done no service in absolutely excoriating SCOTT LINEHAN. That first draft of his deplorable, and in turn, led to another generation of bad football.

Setting that stinky history all aside, I have a high degree of faith in the front office and Les Snead to balance their roster.

I guess the biggest element to this year's draft will BPA versus sustained help at two spots

PROTECTING THE QB

RUSHING THE QB

kind of simple.
RB doesn't have an elite talent, imo
TE might be....but against the edge guys if they fall?
WR is always tricky. Metcalf gets buzz. Alyo says that cone is a BIG flag. Not to say we'd get him, but illustrates how each prospect generates questions.

As of now, I like protecting the QB.

BUT get this
Winovich had a great pro day.....
