Every team knew Allen was small for an NFL OL. Perhaps the RZ scheme that the Rams use makes Allen more viable and valuable than a huge mauling Center that has slower feet or bad leverage sometimes. I dunno. Maybe the Rams just thot he'd be a good back-up. I dunno.
But...the Rams knew that he was a smallish OC....and drafted him fairly high(4th) so they liked something he did.
I just read - can't remember where now - but I read that Allen IS the replacement for Sully at Center. He's the guy.
I suspect that if we lose Saffold...."Boom" starts at LG...right beside Allen.
I also think we draft 2 OL for depth.
"L'audace, l'audace. Toujours l'audace!"
