For my Achilles tendinopathy as physio wasn't/isn't helping much.
The doctor was eager to do it at $500 times per pop. My physical therapist who is also a doctor and at the time was working with the Orlando Magic, was less than enthusiastic, but never said much.
I balked at the cost and decided to go and get a second opinion.
I asked my new doctor about this and he said his partner had had it done and saw improvement. But then he laughed and said, 'mind you, he also quit fell running, so that might have been a factor'.
He went on to say there was zero scientific proof, but there was anecdotal proof that some people had benefitted.
When I spoke to my PT, he said the same and wasn't keen on the idea, but that previously he didn't like to contradict the original specialist I was under.
There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.
