I don't know what's been figured out, whether it's McVay or Goff but since the KC game, it hasn't been the same offense. Goff's numbers are strikingly different:
Before the bye(11 games):
258/381(67.7%) 3,547 yards(9.3 ypa) 26td(6.8%)/6int(1.6%) 113.4 rating
After the bye(8 games):
165/286(57.7%) 1,853 yards(6.5 ypa) 7td(2.4%)/8int(2.8%) 73.6 rating
Across the board he has significant drops in efficiency and production and it's very fair to wonder if the league has caught up to McVay and Goff. This isn't one bad game, this is half of a season and the most recent 8 games he's played.
One hope is that it's all because Goff lost Kupp. I'm sure that's made a negative difference. But, Goff's biggest game as a pro vs. KC came after they lost Kupp so I'm not sure that's the only problem.
The article mentions that the Patriots and others have adapted and are setting up their defenses based on how much time is left on the play clock. It would seem that that is a major component to the success the Rams have had and moving forward they will have to counter.
