It seems pretty clear. He's not 100% and the knee goes in and out of being a problem that prevents him from taking the field.

Not being 100%, though, does not mean he qualifies as injured. Just subpar, ie. in relation to his own standard.

And, they don't know day to day what he will be capable of when he plays.

He can qualify as not injured and be eligible to play, and still be hampered and not his full self. Which is what I think we've been seeing.

I mean, they already said this year that he has inflammation in the knee. They already said it was a problem that started in the Oakland game. It's not enough to qualify him as injured but in any given game his performance can be changed by it. Could be tendonitis. Could be a little fragment is floating around in there.

Who knows what it is. Maybe a LONG rest cures it, maybe he needs a scope (which is far short of a full-on surgical procedure to repair a damaged knee.)
