Bill played the run first imo. He put a four man line on the 5 olinemen. Shelton would shade the center off to different sides. They also had two olbs set the edge. And they set the edge hard--they chipped the slot guys and did not allow rollouts. The line could not get off to the second level. @#$%&, they barely could handle the first level.
With the mostly man coverage--I think(tough to say w certainty without reviewing film) you have to take shots or do what the Pats do. The Pats iso Edelman. They put him in a two way go position and he burns you. But he is pretty much one of a very few.
The key to me was the pressure. Goff didnt have the time to allow the route concepts to develop. The Pats do a tremendous job of getting five man pressure--really exceptional.
