Gurley is still the main man. He might even have a great game, like I think he did against the Cowboys.
But I do think they are actively managing inflammation in the knee, keeping it to a minimum, so they'll have him for the next game.
So they are limiting his snaps, and they've got a reliable back in CJ to do that.
In the case of Sunday's game, since he was maybe pressing a bit early and having some struggles, why not go ahead and put CJ in until things settle down?
They were going to give CJ those snaps anyway, at some point in the game.
Gurley was back in later, making some blocks and a catch.

Totally agree.
Im hoping that with two weeks off, the OL and the backs will be refreshed like they were against Dallas. That was an amazing ground game performance and having Sullivan and Whitworth at full strength sure gives you hope they can move a pile.
Todd has been hurt since week one. He has played amazing this year but he did admit something happened.
Its not shocking that the wear and tear has added up over the season. Enter CJ Anderson. The way that man has produced, why not give him the carries since Todd looked unfocused to start the game? There was no evidence that CJ could be stopped. Maybe playing in back to back weeks wore our older OL down and that had something to do with the Saints being able to bottle up Anderson so well?
If anything, its a good sign that Todd was in the game in the 4th quarter as mentioned. His leg might have been twisted during his TD but he did play.
Again, lets hope that two weeks off refreshes the running game.
