So, it might have actually warranted a penalty call but it wasn't nearly as critical to the outcome of the game. Whether the Rams score 3 or 7, the Saints still have time and opportunity to affect the outcome. I just don't agree that it was the same thing.

It changes a lot. Rams most likely score 7 there, making it 24-20 Rams, along with burning more time off the clock. That alone changes the dynamics of the Saints ensuing drive.

Let's also not forget the two delay of game penalties against the Saints that were not called. One of which was when they were within our 5 yard line and scored a TD. If that penalty is called it sets them back 5 yards and who knows? They could have had to settle for a FG instead of a TD.

Each play/penalty/penalty not called affects the remainder of the game. To say that ONE play determined the outcome of the game is disingenuous to say the least. Yes, absolutely that play with NRC should have been called a penalty but in no way is the wrong team in the Super Bowl.
