Of course, he wouldn't.
The guy oozes class and graciousness. After every single loss, he has gone out of his way to praise the opposition and admit his fallibilities.
Mr. Bountygate otoh spent most of his interview complaining.
And the interviewer praised him for doing what he is contractually obliged to do, giving an interview. Really? is that how low the bar is these days, you just need to turn up?
I am utterly sick to death of people (mainly Saints fans) trying to take the higher ground whilst digging a huge hole to speak from.
Either say 'well done' and leave it at that or whine. Don't try and pretend to be being gracious as you chip away at the validity of our win.
No question that McVay would NEVER have responded as Payton did. And, in fact, I think MOST coaches would have taken the high road even under those heartbreaking conditions. It'd be the "right thing to do," and every coach knows that close games have any number of "hinge" moments.
