My only thought would be..

when the other team runs the ball effectively, it keeps our offense off the field.. Now, with a big strike offense, maybe not a big deal to have less time on the field, but it also wears out the defense.. even tho they tend to make big plays at the end of the game.. So, my thought pretty much made no sense.. lol
