But I guarantee you he won’t win by having Goff throwing the ball 40+ times and running the ball 13
The way to beat the Bears is to be physical. That means lining up in 12, 22, & 21 personnel and getting after them in the run game
You can’t go in finesse and pretty when you are fighting a bully... the best coaches adjust.
Goff threw 4 pix and no touchdowns. A 19 QB rating.
Gurley ran for 2.5 ypc.
Bears controlled the clock for 37 of the 60 min.
Game was played in Chicago.
I'm pretty sure no one, including McVay and Goff, would recommend a 3:1 pass:run ratio. But given that the Rams had their worst day offensively, Goff had the worse game of his professional career, and they STILL only lost by 9, I feel pretty sure that the Rams what it takes to beat the Bears regardless. Obviously, strategy matters. I think execution mattered more in that loss to the Bears. Goff was shaky and the O-line was a sieve. I think they'll all be much better this time around - if they play the Bears again - regardless of how many times McVay asks Goff to drop back.
I'm also not at all convinced that running Gurley more would have done us any good that day. 11-28 yds. Ick.
