Brockers has been a mystery all season long. He should be breaking into his prime years and he seems to have regressed. Perhaps it is the scheme or that he has lost weight and is playing more end versus nose but what clear is that he is not making plays. Teams are running against us and you can't just blame the LB group. Certainly he did not play up to his salary cap level this year.
Now Brockers is still a youngish type guy and everything I have read about him suggests that he is a hard worker and trains really hard in the off season. With Suh likely gone next year it may be a stretch to cut Brockers too though 11 Mil of savings sure looks nice. Perhaps they get him to bulk back up and play the middle again where he did a decent job. I tend to think that the staff will look to rejuvenate him and put him back in his original position but that is just a guess at this point.
I do expect that they will discuss cutting or saving him at length as his performance does not justify his cap expense. If they cut him DL will be what we pick in the draft and that is a good thing because Dline is the strongest position the the draft by far at least as far as the 1st and 2nd rounds are concerned. Certainly this is a situation that is worth watching and it will speak volumes regarding the draft and potential player acquisition.
