The Rams decision to tank the last game last year hurt the Rams. I get sitting out injured players, but when you don't compete in a game, that environment is toxic and it is hard to get back on track.
Playing for a bye is enough incentive to go for the win this last week. Now, I don't know if I necessary play Gurley if he is putting his career on the line because of injury. I also don't play him if the injury slows him down to the point that the backup player who is healthy is moving faster and running stronger.
But in general, this has played out well because I think it forces McVay to try to win this week and if the Rams play well and have back to back strong weeks, that momentum could carry over.
