Following the Chiefs game, McVay said that Gurley suffered an ankle injury during the game. He may have injured his ankle, but I think that's when his knee was injured, too. O'Daniel tackled Gurley from the back and kind of fell against the back of Gurley's ankle, out of bounds, and Gurley fell forward and came down on his left knee. It happened at the 13:25 mark in the 1st quarter.
Sean McVay says Todd Gurley injured his ankle, was limited vs. ChiefsBy: Cameron DaSilva | November 20, 2018 5:11 pm ET
There were a lot of questions about Todd Gurley’s usage on Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, considering he only got 15 touches and had his last carry come with 11:07 left in the game. as it turns out, Gurley suffered an ankle injury early on and was limited as a result.
Sean McVay revealed the news during a conference call Tuesday.
“He got his ankle rolled up on. I thought he still continued to compete and do a great job, but it did limit him a little, but I think that’s why you saw Malcolm (Brown) in there.
“He got banged up a little bit and there was a lot of instances where they were playing some defensive structures where they basically were daring you to throw it. I think a lot of that is a result of the respect that they have for Todd and for our running game. But, he did get rolled up on, on the far sideline – his ankle a little bit. He pushed through, but that definitely was a little something that bothered him for sure.”
