I think it was bad luck. He had 4 years with some flashes and a SB ring with Denver in 2015 and signed an RFA with Miami that was matched. Pro Bowler in 2014 then tore up his leg in October 2016 and went on IR. Had over 1000 yards last year with them but I assume was a cap casualty in April before the draft.
Signed with the Panthers as a back-up for McCaffrey but was cut last month, Got a one week look see from the Raiders and was cut 2 weeks ago. He's always been a productive runner when healthy and I was personally shocked when the Broncos cut him this year. I guess they really like Lindsey, cheaper, younger and a local Colorado kid. CJ is a talented player and is only 27. So this is a chance for him to showcase his talents again in hopes of a decent deal as a starter somewhere. Also a Cal guy so he and Goff are probably familiar with each other.
