Hey - I love the guy. He's a stud. He has a chance to be the greatest defensive player ever. I am glad he's on our team.
But the Rams are 3-3 over the last six games and in the last two losses, Donald has 2 tackles and 1 QB hit in each of the games. He certainly isn't impacting the outcome of the game by himself. Not putting the Rams on his shoulders and carrying them to victory.
Yes, he's being double-teamed. Sometimes triple-teamed. But can two guys stop Brees? Or Brady? Mahomes? Rivers? Any top 10 QB?
Plus, if you watch him closely, he's getting held every play. On one play last night, I saw him get held by two players at the same time. And they're not calling it. But they'll call it if you hit a QB a fraction too late. Or throw him to the ground. Not calling holding hurts his value too.
The Rams apparently could use upgrades in lots of places. But the money going to Donald is going to put a cap on that. They could fill 4 to 5 holes for what they're paying him.
Did the Ram's make a mistake paying him top dollar? Would it have been better to trade him and fill those other holes?
