I don't understand the emotion part (or lack of) from them at all,
but, I do see a lack of fundamentals,
not doing your job, like you said, OL trying to help the other guy and not concentrating on what your assignment is.
I see that a lot, especially on defense, all of them:
1. DL not staying home/in their gaps.
2. LB's overrunning plays to the wrong hole.
3. DB's dropping their guy, then getting smoked
I could go on and on and on but...............
I am and will always be a fanatical Rams fan, but right now, I'm having severe flashbacks..........
