the Bears played two deep safeties the whole game, just daring the Rams to run the football, and Gurley had SIX carries (ONE in the 3rd quarter) through 3 quarters. To just run the "9" personnel only, no matter the defense, and then to just give up on the run game after a couple of stuffed runs seems pretty short sighted to me. McVay stated that the Bears were "loading up the box", and we weren't running successfully, so we went to the pass. Can the Rams load up their offensive box?
Obviously, there were many factors, including the awful play by the Oline, but McVay's play calling should definitely be right at the top of the list when it comes to that loss
I'm starting to wonder if just staying in the "9" personnel no matter the opponent and/or situation is going to be successful long term? Shouldn't there be a need for some 2 TE sets, to give Gurley an extra blocker? I'm not saying to adjust much, but wouldn't changing it up once in awhile would be a good thing wouldn't it? Would we stick to the "9" personnel in a driving snow storm?
