It probably should've been picked, but it wasn't a gimme either, precisely because Goff wasn't throwing to a blanketed WR -- the DB made a good play on the ball. But throwing into tight windows is what Goff does and sometimes they're really tight.
But what I loved most about that sequence was that Goff didn't let that bother him one bit. The very next play was the exact same throw to the exact same spot, with a DB in pretty good position. A critical 3rd and nine, game on the line -- a very critical, high-profile game, with millions watching -- and after almost throwing a pick the previous play, he didn't hesitate, didn't blink, didn't show any fear, panicr doubt or get gun shy. Made a perfect throw into tight coverage to get the first down.
The kid just doesn't feel pressure -- he has ice water in his veins.
