It would have been so misplaced and terrible had any player chosen to air his personal grievances by kneeling, holding up a clenched fist, etc.
LA needed this in the worst possible way, and I don't think it could have played out any better.
Sports can unite, or they can divide. On MNF, it united a city if only for a little while.
Making the game in honor of fire and shooting victims and the heroes who battled the fires and survived the shooting, made it all the more meaningful. You can not fake the actual and authentic feelings that came to millions of homes even through the TV airwaves.
