Goff was initially judged, and many QBs are evaluated, based on Fantasy Football standards. In other words, the good QBs are the ones that do the best in Fantasy Football, rather than evaluating what they are doing on the field.
Goff is making throws that no other QB is making. Look at Mahomes TD passes compared to Goff's. Only Mahome's first TD to Hill was a tough touch pass. The rest of them were competent passes to wide open receivers. Compare that to Goff's TDs to Woods, Reynolds, Everett #1, and Everett #2. Perfect passes put exactly where they needed to be against defenders who were in position to make a play. But the box score says Mahomes 6, Goff 4, so Mahomes gets the accolades.*
* Reynolds is doing great, but Kupp gets his second foot in bounds on that third drive for another Goff TD pass. And Cooks dropping that absolute dime inside the 5 yard line probably cost Goff another TD.
