a batted ball at the line of scrimmage.. after the tip, or bat of the ball, and the ball is still in the air, its a free for all as to who can catch it.. there is no pass interference at that point.. Pass interference isn't reviewable, but the tipping of the ball is reviewable.. If its reviewed and a tip was determined to have happened, then the pass interference penalty becomes null and void..
I want to say one year we went, I think, 1-15, and our only win was against the Lions with new offensive coordinator and freshly fired Scott Linehan, who thought they had gotten a last second pass interference penalty at the goal line, but a review determined the ball was tipped by a defender first, so no pass interference and we didn't go 0-16.. I THINK I'm remembering that correctly. somebody correct me if I'm wrong..
