I thought the Vikings game was the most incredible Rams game I have ever seen live. The Chiefs' game blew it away. Total mayhem and electricity the entire night. Draining, but the payoff was incredible.
What is encouraging is that the playoffs will be like that guaranteed. And there is a very important reason why.
When a game like the Packers game is announced in April, it gives the visiting team's fans six months to plan and get tickets, arrangements, etc. If this KC game was always scheduled for the Coliseum, it would have been sold out for sure but there would have been many more Chiefs' fans. They practically took over the Stub Hub Center earlier this year. It is just an undeniable byproduct of Southern California's diverse and metropolitan community. There is nothing that can be done about this. The new stadium will not change the demographics of Southern California.
The playoffs are different, however. What happens if the Packers or the Cowboys are the Rams' first round opponent? The opportunity for taking over the Coliseum will not be present. Why? Because the Rams will start selling playoff tickets BEFORE their opponent is known. So the tickets will be bought by Rams' fans who are far less likely to turn around and sell them to visiting fans. Cowboy fans or Redskin fans or Packer fans will not find an abundance of cheap tix available for the playoff games. Although Atlanta isn't known for traveling great, there was no appreciable Falcon presence at last year's playoff game. Expect the Rams' playoff games to be similar to Monday nights, and thank goodness for that.
