Lack of discipline.
That's nebulous, but I dunno how to put it more accurately.
I think it was after the 1st SEA game that the D guys all talked about playing with better gap discipline. And they managed it the next game.
But they have been pretty spotty in doing it since. SEA 2 was particularly frustrating because they had has Game 1 to learn from … and they got blown out worse this time.
I always think discipline is a crucial part of performance. Generally speaking, McV coaches the offense to play with discipline. The defense is not matching.
Now, the good news is that, if it IS a matter of discipline, then theoretically we could see significant improvement. If it's more than that, then maybe not.
Does this defense have a higher ceiling? And can it elevate close to that ceiling? Hope so.
