as an explanation.
Wild speculation coming up here: The post I quoted, "Suh and Donald are trying to hard to get the sack". I just said that doesn't really work for me, and it doesn't... HOWEVER... apply that concept to the entire D... the 'scheme'.
I'm like you... I understand the basic principles of defensive strategy but long ago lost track of the terminology used today... so this will be very rough:
Ok, how to say this? Some, (I'm one), have speculated that the O's RZ problems are "IN PART" a change in tactics down in that 30 to 15 yard area... 'trying to get to cute' works as well as anything, I guess, to describe it. Apply that to the D but not just in the RZ... the entire field, and nearly every play.
Another way to say it... but read this as a bit of exaggeration - they are playing with 99% confidence that they know the exact play about to be run. Or in other words, each play the D is all in on one O play.
That sounds silly to me... just saying it... but it does, for me, somewhat explain the 'eye ball test' of what is happening. You "would" end up with a lot of one on one match ups.. both Pass D and Run D, if this were the case and they were guessing wrong.
All I really know is that the more I think, (type), the more confused I get.
