Not really D Hall's point though....he is saying Peters is better in off coverage where he can see things better. Maybe they should play to his strengths and not try to make him something he is not.
There is definitely something to be said regarding that approach.
The interview with the Patriots player on Sunday night provided a look into that God-forsaken-teams way of coaching each player. They find out what the players strengths are, and then ask him to do no more, and no less, than what he is capable of.
We've been watching this team (Patriots) now, for what, 18 YEARS of winning football? And I kept asking myself, "are they really that good at selecting draft picks and free agents, time and time again, year after year???" How is it that they can seemingly insert a player into that lineup, and they just seem to play well? Not always pro bowl level, but definitely not "lost" when they're on the field. Like a certain CB looks who is now being discussed on this board.
I think that philosophy of using the players individual ability, strengths and comfort level just adds so much to the entire units cohesiveness. Again, what we've seen now from NE for 18 years.
Does it work all the time? Nope. Receivers catch long passes against them, running backs gash them occasionally, missed tackles are made, but overall, these guys just look really tight and in sync.
Thanks to the OP for that link; that was a good listen, and it made a lot of sense to me.
