Can't take votes away because he's on a winner. Only one team in s undefeated. He's the best player on that undefeated team. Of course we're at the halfway mark and we do play head to head against Mahoney' Chiefs. Brees' Saints only have one loss so if he goes off on us in a win he could move into the lead. Newton? His individual stats are impressive but at 5-2 he hasn't elevated them to the top. And another guy is AD. If he keeps having multiple sack games while creating TOs why not him for MVP?
I was really miffed with his contract ditch, but the man is coming to play. I wouldn't trade him for Newton. So the article is interesting, but more interesting is the perfect record thing and whether it ends up in a SB win.
You have a good case too. The best player on an undefeated team is worth of a great deal of consideration.
I think this comes down to ones definition of MVP. The classic debate is whether it's the best player on a great team or the most indispensable player on a team.
Given that the award is called the most "valuable", I've always fallen on the side that it should go to the most indispensable player on any team. This seems to be the definition of MVP that the author is using.
If we're going with the best player on a great team, then clearly Gurley should be MVP at this point of the season IMO.
