....coming out of college was that he was a pure spread offense QB, and had not taken many (if at all) snaps from under the center. If I recall, that was a big concern from some folks here.
I'm really diggin' our young QB. The kid can play, is tough, and can learn....
The skies the limit folks...
I don't k now why it was a "concern," it was just something to learn.
Now to get up to speed on it so the timing and mechanics are 2nd nature, that takes time. But...it's just not this big challenge.
No spread qb has been prevented from learning to play pro offense because they could not learn how to take snaps from center, drop back with the right mechanics and timing etc. (It's not just taking the snap).
On the other hand it IS true that as a rule Air Raid qbs (and not spread qbs generally, this is more specific) are slower to adapt to the pros if they do it at all. Most haven't and the ones that have, whether as starting caliber qbs or #2 caliber qbs, did not play at all well in year one. (Mahomes didn't start as a rookie.)
BUT taking a snap from center and then dropping back with proper timing and mechanics is the LEAST of the reasons why that is.
