As a corresponding roster move after acquiring edge rusher Dante Fowler, the Rams have waived offensive lineman Jamon Brown.

A third-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Brown played in 41 games — starting 30 — for the Rams over the last four seasons. Brown started all 16 games last year at right guard. He was expected to continue as Los Angeles’ starter at the position, but was suspended for the first two games of 2018. Austin Blythe took over at right guard to start Week 1, and has remained at the spot ever since.

In waiving Brown, Los Angeles now has seven offensive lineman on the active roster in starters Andrew Whitworth, Rodger Saffold, John Sullivan, Blythe and Rob Havenstein, as well as rookie reserves Joe Noteboom and Brian Allen.

Fowler joins the Rams from the Jaguars, where he was the No. 3 overall pick in 2015. Fowler has recorded 14.0 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and 22 QB hits in his young career.

In terms of compensation, Los Angeles will send a 2019 third-round pick and 2020 fifth-round pick to Jacksonville for Fowler. Should L.A. receive a third-round compensatory pick, that will go to Jacksonville to complete the trade in lieu of the team’s original third-round selection. If the Rams receive multiple 2019 third-round comp picks, the club will trade the compensatory selection that is closest to the beginning of the round.
