Cutting Nick Williams or Jojo Natson would not have cleared enough salary cap room to sign Fowler. Brown's salary matched Fowlers, less about $200K. The Rams could have tried to restructure some players, but they either didn't want to or there wasn't time. Either way, Noteboom can play guard and Brown wasn't being resigned after the year. Makes sense he would go.
