I'm sure you know this but Vegas picks point spreads to get the money to fall evenly on both teams. It has nothing to do with how much better they think one team is over the other ... or even which team they think is better.
Actually it is based on exactly that....they don't just throw lines out there willey nilley. They set the line to what they feel is the closest to what the game might actually end up being. It's quite amazing how close they come most of the time.
Then the line will move depending on how the public is betting it after the initial line is set.
