the saints cap space this year alone prevented them from truly pursuing peterson. they only had 1.4m available. apple cost them 1m leaving them 355k cap space today. they're very strapped if any other issues come up.
apple was the best the saints could do.
peterson would cost 5.5m this year if he moves last minute. the cap space issue gets worse in 2019 and worse again in 2020 as peterson is due 11m next year and 12m in 2020.
personally, i'm glad the saints could not afford him.
conversely, if the cards would consider trading within the division, i'd be curious to see if wade would pound the table for him knowing he'd have to cut talib at the end of this season.....
