He was this big, massive OLINEMAN. But, I swear he must have broken every finger over a 4 year career.
We were on the bus heading to San Francisco State....I looked across the aisle and saw his twisted fingers.....He was proud of those fingers.
He was the master of his own creation....."The Antler Block."
During films, the Off. coaches would ask, "Why do you sometimes put your hands on your helmet before you block? That's how you break your fingers."
Without hesitation, he said..." Coach, it's my ANTLER BLOCK. Then, he would show us the block with his fingers up by his helmet, looking like Antlers."
The team roared with laughter, he sat there laughing with all of us.........Just awesome times......Of course, we nicknamed him Rudolph.
At parties, girls would ask us why we called him Rudolph........It was a great conversation starter
