The Rams last year weren't sure if they were that good, or just that lucky. So when it got time for big-boy football, they sort of tightened up.
There's no tightening up this year because this team truly believes in itself similar to how the Pats do.
This line from Gurley in yesterday's press conference sums it up:
"If I'm watching TV, you hear it, but it is what it is. We know we're good. We don't need anybody else to tell us that."
Rams aren't cocky. They are just certain that they are good team such that if they were to lose, it would be their own fault because there isn't a better team out there for them to play.
