Sudden death overtime.
That Vikings team was good at blocking kicks. (what else is new?)
But the Rams really had them in a bind.
LA was near the goal line and, obviously, in sudden death, any score would win.
So the Rams lined up for the kick on 3rd down, not 4th.If they ran a fake, and got stopped short of the goal, they could still kick it on 4th down.
The Vikings could either go all out for the kick block, and leave themselves open to a run.
Or they could play for the fake and let the kick be an easy one (it was like extra point distance).
Nolan Cromwell was the holder, and an excellent runner (once put up 200 yards rushing as a college quarterback).
The Vikings went all out for the kick block. Cromwell picked up the ball and had an easy run to the corner of the endzone.
That's all from my memory. I loved that ending.
Ramily!
