Crazy how Winston and Mariota have gone from young stud high draft pick QBs, best in years, much better than Goff and Wentz, and all that rhetoric from the evaluators, to huge question marks.
There were 5 QBs taken this year. I wonder how many of them will go on to be quality starters.
Mariota was over hyped because he was the anti-Winston, Mariota has everything from the neck up, but just an average signal caller, that has to be on the move to be effective and defenses limit him, when he's in the pocket and the primary receiver is covered, he does not have the ability to go through his progressions.....Winston on the other hand has that ability, but is a punk and like GROB, football came too easy to him, so easy, he felt he was entitled to other things....Wonder if he even gets his job back with the Harvard Grad now manning the post and Fitzpatrick has a history of being good for one year.
Goff & Wentz were totally different from those two, not only did they have the talent, but both were extremely smart from the neck up plus both of them are football junkies....As to the five QB's drafted on who will make it, obviously Sam Darnold is off to a great start and I expect him to be very special and could be the best QB in NY Jet history barring injury as always....Baker Mayfield will be solid, but will wow you one week and break your heart the next...Josh Allen, accuracy never improves at the next level and eventually Buffalo might realize that, but he could be another Andy Dalton just a tease for the people of Western, NY...Lamar Jackson is the next Vince Young, but might have a longer shelf life..Josh Rosen, if he can stay healthy could be very good, but he's built like a Tennis Player and might not hold up for the long haul....As always, JMHO.
