2 TD's in 5 chances seems alarming as a red zone stat, but Rams had opportunities and were close to getting TD's...
Early 2nd. OAK 10. LAR 7. 3rd and 8 at OAK 20. OAK show Cover 2 pre-snap and play Cover 2 man post snap. Everyone in the stands should know that the Woods singled up on the post route should be open. Protection broke down a bit, but this is a TD if Goff just hangs in there and throws this ball at Wood's break.
Result is strip sack by Irvin and missed FG by GZ.

Late 2nd. OAK 10. LAR 7. 3rd and 5 at OAK 5. OAK rush 4. 5 defenders playing zone on the right. 3 Rams receivers go right. Cooks and Gurley get single man coverage on the left. Goff's primary read is right and gets plenty of time. Cooks route takes him to coverage. Gurley singled up on a LB and beats his man. Goff needs to recognize 5 vs 3 on the right side probably means someone is singled up on the left side. Goff had plenty of time. If he just takes a peek backside, this is a TD. FG instead.
Early 3rd. OAK 13. LAR 10. 3rd and 8 on OAK 10. OAK rush 4. 5 receivers singled up. 1 Safety and 1 LB playing zone. Kupp runs a great route and beats DRC. Goff recognizes it but throws a bit late. And throw is behind Kupp and almost intercepted by DRC. Great read by Goff. If Goff lets this ball out earlier, ball is in front of Kupp for TD. Or he could've waited a split second later and Higbee has a TD in the back of the EZ. Great play call by McVay.
In conclusion, McVay is calling some great plays in the RZ. And the boys were close to hitting them. That's why no red zone worries here yet. I'm sure they'll get more proficient next week.
Go Rams!
